Experience the Thuringian Forest
Together with the Slate Mountains, the Franconian Forest and the Fichtelgebirge, the Thuringian Forest forms the Thuringian-Franconian Low Mountains, which extends from the Werra to the Czech border.
Valuable open-country biotopes in predominantly natural condition, steaming mountain meadows and forests scented to Moss and Harz in lush greenery, here nature is palpable on every metre.
The low mountain range is protected as a nature park Thuringian Forest as a whole. The core area, the Thuringian Forest Biosphere Reserve, is even more strictly protected. More than over 200 possible tours and themed trails are waiting to be discovered and hiked by the visitor. So, take your hiking boots on and the packed backpack and go!
